A comprehensive uniform recap from the Gators game against USF.

Florida took a road trip to Tampa on Saturday to take on the USF Bulls, their 2nd straight matchup with an in-state opponent. With the game being played on the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the Gators revealed red, white, and blue helmets with all-white uniforms on Thursday to commemorate the day. Read more about the uniforms here. Florida easily took the victory 42–20 thanks to Richardson’s QB play and now looks ahead to Alabama. Here’s a full recap of the uniform news from the USF game:

1. All-white in back to back seasons

The all-white uniform combination for the Gators is a fan favorite but also a place of sadness over the years. First revealed in 2016 for Florida’s game vs Tennessee, the Gators have only worn it 3 times since, including Saturday’s game against USF. However, this is back to back seasons wearing the all-white combination.

Since Mullen’s tenure as head coach, the Gators have alternated between white/white/white and white/blue/white combinations to show off the white helmet.

  • W/W/W vs Georgia 2018
  • W/B/W vs Vandy 2019
  • W/W/W vs Vandy 2020
  • W/W/W vs USF 2021

This season should have been W/B/W if it was to follow the pattern, but that doesn’t mean we couldn’t see it later this season.

Florida is now 2–2 in all-white since the combination was revealed in 2016.

2. New visor accents

Florida also debuted new visor accents on the left side of the visor this season. Previously, the right side had the Jordan logo while the left side had the words “Jordan” Now, both sides have the Jordan logo.

3. Patriotic warm-up shirts

The Gators also wore new warm-up shirts that matched their helmet decal. The shirts featured the red, white, and blue script Gators logo as well as the words “Never Forget” on the back (via @GatorsFB)

The coaching staff also sported the shirts during warm-ups and a few continued to do so during the game.

Accessories recap

  • Multiple players wore the American flag Gator Head towel on Saturday. The towel first made its debut in 2016
  • Emory Jones rocked an orange sleeve
  • The Gators sported new white gloves on Saturday, feature a blue Jordan logo and Gator skin print on the palms
  • Punter Jeremy Crenshaw wore the throwback socks from 2019
  • Trevez Johnson sported double blue sleeves while Kairr Elam wore white sleeves
  • Jadarrius Perkins was seen wearing the new Jordan 5 cleats. A few players have been wearing this year, but not near as many as in previous years. Also, many players have taped their shoes and ankles this year, making it difficult to identify the cleats

Other uniform tidbits

  • Mullen again wore a blue visor and blue polo, making is record 2–0 in each. He also wore an American flag ping to commemorate 9/11.

#11 Florida will host #1 Alabama next Saturday in a sold out Swamp. With many fans wishing for black uniforms or pressing for all-blue uniforms, this traditional matchup won’t be the time to pull out non-traditional uniforms.
