A comprehensive uniform recap from the Arkansas game

Brad McClenny-USA TODAY NETWORK

It was a magical night in The Swamp on Saturday as Kyle Trask made his case as the Heisman front runner and the Gators ran wild through the Hogs. Florida picked up a 63–35 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks in a strong performance after a massive win over Georgia. The Gators opted for their orange alternate jerseys for the first time this season while the Razorbacks went with their Darren McFadden era inspired away uniforms. The win in O/O/W made Florida’s record 7–1 in the combination and 12–3 in orange jerseys overall since they returned in 2010. Here’s a full breakdown from Saturday night:

1. Gators break out orange jerseys for first time this season

A staple for the Gators in the 1980s, the orange jerseys once again made their appearance on Saturday night. The announcement sparked much discussion as the orange jerseys are in a love/hate relationship with fans. However, as state previously, the Gators are now 7–1 in the combination since 2010, making it the most successful combination for Florida.

Florida last wore the O/O/W combination vs Towson in 2019. The outcry against the jerseys at that time was few and far between. Was it Arkansas (an SEC opponent) and Franks (former Gators QB) what brought about the hate?

Also, the orange jerseys still aren’t fixed. #FixTheOrangeUnis

2. American Flag Gatorhead towels return

The American Flag Gatorhead towels returned for the first time since Vanderbilt 2019. It was part of the Gators “Salute to Service” night where Veterans and active duty service members were honored.

The towels first appeared in a full-team lineup in 2016. Here’s a picture from GatorsFB in 2019:

3. Orange accessories under the lights

For the first time this season, the whole team was coordinate with their sleeves and accessories. The team wore orange arm and leg sleeves which really made the combination pop:

Accessories recap

  • The glove of choice for the whole team was white gloves. This was the first time all season the whole team was coordinated with gloves
  • LB Mohamoud Diabate wore NO gloves, a rare site in today’s game
  • Zachary Carter showed off his cage facemask

Other uniform tidbits:

  • The Gators once again wore a different black warm-up shirt. This week it featured a camo shield with “Gators” on top and an American flag on the shoulder
  • Dan Mullen wore a white polo and white visor, making him 2–0 in white visors and 3–0 in white polos this season. His polo also featured the “Coach to Cure MD” patch, a first for this season.
