Florida brings back all-orange uniforms against LSU
The Gators will break out all-orange uniforms for the first time since 2016
Gators fan asked for more variety with uniforms, and they got it. On Thursday morning, Florida revealed their uniform combination for their upcoming game against LSU: all-orange.
This is the first time since 2016 the all-orange uniform has been worn, and the first time seeing the combination under Jordan Brand. In fact, this is a repeat uniform combination from the Gators last day game in Baton Rouge where Florida clinched the SEC East in all-orange with a goal line stand against LSU.
All-orange was a popular and highly successful uniform under previous Gators Head Coach Jim McElwain where the team went 4–1 in the combination. The all-orange combination made its modern era debut against Kentucky in 2015, the first time the Gators had worn the combination since 1989.
The last time the Gators wore all-orange was in the 2016 SEC Championship Game against Alabama. The combination was known for victories but proved flawed as the Gators lost 54–16.
Florida’s biggest victory in all-orange was vs #3 Ole Miss in 2015. The Gators pulled off the massive upset with a 38–10 win in The Swamp.
The all-orange combination continues a recent trend in the Gators uniform selection, going from traditional to varied. The 2020 season featured blue helmet throwbacks and a blue script Gators helmet paired with white jerseys and blue pants against Tennessee. Already this season the Gators have worn white jerseys at home, patriotic helmet decals with an icy white combo vs USF, and orange helmet throwbacks.
Orange is the dedicated “alternate” jersey color for the Gators since their move to Jordan Brand in 2018. The orange jersey has since been worn once per season under Mullen, usually against weaker opponents. Orange jerseys were re-introduced in 2010 for the Gators game against LSU and have been worn in every season since, except for the 2013 season.
The Gators look for revenge against LSU this Saturday after a flabbergasting loss to LSU in 2020 and a competitive loss in Death Valley in 2019.
